An online training programme for teachers of science and mathematics, based on mentoring and the research results of the New Teacher Center group. Specifically, the programme brings together new teachers with veteran and university teachers to collaborate in an online community that facilitates the exchange of information, ideas, experiences and knowledge.
During the 2012-13 academic year, eMSS had almost 700 new teachers in 50 states and approximately 70,000 students. Throughout its existence, over 4,000 teachers have participated in the programme.
The New Teacher Center impact evaluation system also assesses the impact of its programmes based on new teacher retention (avoiding abandonment of the profession with the consequent cost and loss of professional talent), improving teaching practice and student performance.
