Jongerenloket (the Youth Box, in English) is a one-stop-shop service and a hub of resources for youth at risk of exclusion, managed by the municipality; it forms a single institution where young people can go for assistance relating to education, housing, health, entrepreneurship and other issues.
- 36,000 youngsters have used Jongerenloket up until 2017.
- 43% of them have been referred to social services, 33% back to education and 24% have found a job.
- Of those participants who were subject to compulsory schooling, 100% returned to education through a compulsory or alternative pathway.
In 2017, the initiative was presented in Athens within the framework of the Accelerating Change for Social Inclusion (ACSI) project to study its local implementation.
