A project addressing the needs of young refugees and asylum seekers by offering them a comprehensive education and training programme accompanied by socialisation activities and personalised mentoring.
- In 2014, Schlau reached more than 1,500 students.
- 96% of participants graduate from German secondary school within two years, which usually takes nine years of schooling.
- SchlaU pupils get better grades in their exams than average German students.
- Most of the SchlaU alumni who start vocational training complete their programmes and have a much lower dropout rate than native-born German apprentices (dropout rate is one in five for native-born Germans).
