A programme for creating employment cooperatives owned by people in deprived communities with difficulties to access employment. It is structured into a network of for-profit, social community-based enterprises that seek to combine quality job creation, local wealth generation and sustainability.

Outputs:

  • Three enterprises have been created and employ a total of 120 people.

 

Impacts: 

  • Evergreen wages average 20% higher than competitors, in addition to a robust benefit package. Due to ownership structure, employee retention rates are much higher than industry standards.

Implementation progress

In 2018, the initiative was presented in Rotterdam within the framework of the Accelerating Change for Social Inclusion (ACSI) project to explore its local implementation.
