A mentoring project that connects children from disadvantaged backgrounds with university students who act as mentors, offering personalised attention that helps participants realise their potential and increase their motivation. While offering this service, volunteers develop their knowledge and social commitment.

Impact indicators

Outputs:

  • In 2012, about 60,000 children from 1,216 schools participated in the project in 198 cities and towns all around Israel.
  • Approximately 15% of all students in higher education in Israel participate in the project each year.

 

Impacts:

  • The programme has a high positive impact in children's improved academic achievements (51%), increased motivation to study (60%), self-esteem (82%) and social status (76%).
Implementation progress

In 2017, the initiative was presented in Athens, Barcelona and Lisbon within the framework of the Accelerating Change for Social Inclusion (ACSI) project to study its local implementation.
