A project offering after-school tutorial support, mentoring and career guidance for young people from the suburbs of large cities. The activities provide students with the necessary tools for their own learning and involves them as active agents of the institution.

Outputs:
- In 2017, the organisation had 17 branches across South Africa, reaching approximately 2,350 students in grades 8 to 12.
Impacts:
- SInce 2007, 80 to 100% of their students have passed matric exams (high school leaving certificate) compared to 73% nationally.
- In 2017, 69% of ‘Ikamvanites’ were eligible for tertiary study (achieving either bachelor or diploma passes) compared to 54% nationally.
Implementation progress
This model of peer to peer mentoring provides an innovative solution to challenges in the areas of both education and social inclusion.
It has therefore been presented to potential local partners in Spain and Portugal, who are currently exploring the possibilities for its implementation.
Ikamva Youth is preparing an intensive 3-day training course to share its model and adapt it to Spain and Portugal.
