Forandringsfabrikken (The Change Factory) is an organisation aiming to engage young people under state care (justice, schools, hospitals, protection systems) in the design and management of social programmes and organisations that directly affect them, through facilitating their participation and involvement as expert evaluators and lobbyists for change.

Impact indicators

Outputs:

  • Up until 2017, the organisation had carried out projects with 5,000 school children, 1,100 children in welfare, 500 in mental health institutions, 100 involved in justice systems and 100 in hospitals.

Impacts:

  • As a result, 5 child protection laws have been changed in Norway. Amendments in Norway’s Child Care Act are being issued to bring in more focus on children’s perspective and cooperation with children.
Implementation progress

The initiative was presented in Barcelona (2017) and Rotterdam (2018) within the framework of the Accelerating Change for Social Inclusion (ACSI) project to explore its local implementation. In April 2018, the department for Promoting Children's Activities at the municipality of Barcelona organised a training course for 30 professionals from the local administration and social organisations from the Network for children's rights.

The Change Factory will support one of the teams that participated in the training in order to integrate the keys of the model into new or existing projects in the City.
