Saving and investment clubs whose objective is to create local microenterprises and to finance social entrepreneurship projects locally by mobilising the fact of saving in the community they are developing in.
Impact indicators
- 136 clubs working in 2010 with about 1.800 members, and 25 more clubs were approved in 2010.
- In each club there is an average of 13 “cigaliers”.
- The average of monthly savings is €21. The average of investment by each enterprise is €3,000.
- The average of studied projects by each club is 3.
Implementation progress
Fundación Seira and Federación de Cooperativas Agrarias de Cataluña have adopted this innovation and they have created a series of GEST: Grups d'Estalvi Solidari Territorial.
These GESTs are promoting the creation of a net formed by groups focused in the managing of solidary savings. 6 GEST are still in process of implementation in Barcelona (in Ecos space and in the districts of Nou Barris, Sants and Sants Martí), Manlleu, and Solsona.
